Tyler Paul Smith is a native and lifelong resident of Cashtown Road, Bremen, Haralson County, Georgia, where he lives on his family's 160-plus-year-old farm. Tyler Paul graduated from Bremen High School in 2009 and earned his undergraduate degree in Political Science in 2013 from The Citadel: The Military College of South Carolina. He returned to Georgia after graduation, where he earned his law degree from Atlanta's John Marshall Law School in May of 2016. Tyler Paul was elected to the Georgia State House of Representatives in 2020 for State House District 18, encompassing parts of Haralson and Carroll Counties. He was appointed in 2022 by Speaker Jon Burns as Chairman of the House Judiciary Non-Civil Committee to present, which oversees most all of the proposed legislation affecting the criminal and traffic codes of the State of Georgia. In addition to serving as Chairman of the House Judiciary Non-Civil Committee, he also serves as Ex-Officio of the House Judiciary Committee, member of the House Agriculture, Juvenile Judiciary, Insurance, and Small Business Development Committees. His practice areas include, among others, criminal defense, personal injury, and landlord-tenant law.
